Obligatory

It's in the fine print, this obligation. You know, the part you click "Agree" under without actually reading it, because if you don't agree, you will just have to go looking for a different blog platform to sign up with, and then where will you be? Reading another agreement, in a different small font, that's where. And if my hunch is correct, it will be there too.

It of course is the provision, located I believe right next to the "the blogger shall, when the opportunity presents itself, bake apple pie. Further, the blogger shall expound on the experience in a long and winding post, prominently featuring mom" provision, that requires the very selfsame blogger to, from time to time, post pictures of fall foliage. Waxing poetic, melancholic, thoughtful, or enigmatic is optional.

The enigmatically poetic, thoughtful, and at times melancholic Niobe has, of course, already fulfilled her contractual obligation. With one picture and with but a title word. Because that's how she rolls. But honestly, with a picture like that who needs words?

It seems that, in stark contrast, I have already run my fingers off with rather a few words. So how about I stop and present to you a few shots of the fall in a battleground state near me.

Oh, what the hell... One parting bit of waxing, cause I can't resist:

It appears that while the grass is rarely greener somewhere else, the sky certainly seemed bluer on that side of the border.

So what has this fall been like for you so far?

Still waiting for the temperature to get below 80 degrees, then at least I can turn off my a/c and pretend like we actually have seasons here.
I live vicariously through my computer screen so pics like those lovely leaves make me believe that "Yes, Virginia, there really is a Fall."
Thank you:)

Gorgeous, all of it.

M&R asked to play with your daughter today. I told them she has a new brother now. "Maddie hold him?" " I touch him?" they asked.

We all send our love.

It's not quite here yet. I recently saw some yellow leaves in a nearby town and was surprised. Unfortunately, those beautiful fall colors that you captured in your lovely photos, they don't come here. So, I'm still waiting. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Note to self re upcoming post: Bake apple pie. Expound on experience. Preferably longish-ly and winding-ly.

(What would I do without you, Julia?)

I hadn't noticed it coming until L's scooter started gathering masses of leaves in the front wheels on the way to school.

those are beautiful shots...and this fall for me is a pretty glorious blur of happy drudgery, like washing dishes on a great acid trip. while twenty pounds heavier than normal.

I am in flagrant contractual breach, having never, ever attempted to bake any pie (or much of any thing). And the digital camera was inadvertently retired by my Monkey. Hoping to get another for Christmas. Please don't send the blog police after me! :)

ciao,
rpm

Beautiful. The leaves are still falling, spiralling in soft swirls down to the ground. The sun slants through the gaps they leave and paints the forest floor in golds and reds.
I love fall. If only it lasted a little longer....

The fiery orange ones (the second one down) are my favourite.

Great pictures!! It's been a pretty nice fall for us, weatherwise (until this week, anyway...). But I'm heading into my post-Thanksgiving/year-end rush state of melancholic exhaustion, knowing November is just around the corner. :(

too warm and not enough room. thats how fall has been. better because of the blog world. I know we all get tired and stressed and what not but for some reason I only "hear" what all you guys say on the subjects cause well you're honest, have no agendas and aren't tainted with knowing me my whole life ha ha. so I'm Thankful for you and this blog and all the blogs I read. kinda fitting for fall?

I need glasses to back over my fine print.

Here 'tis beautiful, still a bit green for my taste, and slightly more appreciated than last year. Still my favorite season, although now sans the anticipation of the next one. Which now sucks royally.
