You know you are too tired when...

...you hold it together the whole day by promising yourself a good long cry when you have done everything you need to do, only to fall asleep half way into the second sob of that cry.

And, of course, the way you figure that out is by waking up with a distinctly dissatisfied feeling, and working your way back to only remembering winding up for the second sob of your long-awaited cry. Which, of course, means that you have no choice but to start a new day with the same promise to self. Who wants to guess how that's going to go?

Feel free to add your own concluding sentiments for the title of this post. I have a feeling this time of year everyone's got a few.

... when you're baking bread and you decide that it simply doesn't matter that the eggs are frozen (how did that happen, anyway?!) -- you're going to use them anyway.

I really hope you are able to get your cry soon. I think my children have become accustomed to my being weepy: I just sort of dribble regularly.

I am, by the way, blogging elsewhere these days (link through my name): faith and family living, mainly.

Oy, I know this feeling well.

You know you are tired when you just don't care about getting laid off (I didn't but some of my coworkers did today:(). It seemed kind of trivial in the grand scheme of things. I would add though that I do feel bad for anyone who has to look for a job in this market.

Yes. I have a list. I'm too tired to list it.

(you know you're tired when you ache for a friend, and totally understand, and all you can manage is 'xo')

You know you're too tired when you start crying but can't really figure out why it is you're crying in the first place.

You know you're too tired when you start posting a comment on a blog, get sidetracked, forget what you were doing, leave the comment window open, and don't realize until a hundred hours later that you never finished making the darned comment in the first place. So if you check your SiteMeter or whatever it is you use and notice that some nutcase in Georgia was on your blog for a kajillion hours - well that was me.

Deferred cries are always more forceful cries, but I always feel so much more cleansed once they're out. Thinkin' of you.

I so recommend the shower for a good long wailing, sobbing misery fest. Preferably when alone in the house, if that can be arranged. Then you can really let loose.

...you whack your husband in the chest for coming home 20 minutes later than he said he would PROBABLY be home (no promises, of course--the man is smart), and scream at him to just LEAVE YOU THE F ALONE!

(We had a sleep regression last week, and I'm in my first trimester. It hasn't been pretty.)

. . . you can't remember what it's like *not* to feel this way.

I hope you get your cry before you go so sleep tonight.

...you are driving a car, possibly with children and/or MIL in tow, and realize you are GOING on red and STOPPING on green. Not good.
