The spring that isn't

Or at least not yet. Oh, it almost was, for a few days here and there. But in the latest go round, Friday we had cold rain that was snow in some parts of the state. Yesterday the plan was to walk circles around the pond, but once we emerged from the coffee shop, there were flakes. Honest to goodness flakes. So we wandered around the neighborhood instead. The effects of the just kidding approach to changing of the seasons were hard to miss.

These guys, though, seem to be doing alright.

We spotted this dude across the street from the flowers. While we were taking pictures of him, a lady walked by, said she was the manager of the store, and invited us inside to look at him sans the fuzzy window.

He was weird-looking anyway.

It was a paper goods store, so I had some fun with my new camera.

This is my camera, btw. We got a package with two lenses-- 18-55mm and 55-200mmVR. They just released a D60, so the package we got doesn't seem to be available anymore, at least not all in one place. I shot the pictures above with the 18-55mm lens. I did the moon pictures with the 55-200mmVR one. I swear, this is the best toy I got in years.

The pictures are stunning. The skeleton, not so much ;o) I heart paper goods. So pretty.

That's one brilliant toy!
I've seen lots of odd things around here, but a skeleton in the window, not yet.

Sorry about "spring." Reminds me of the midwest when suddenly one day it was 80, and everyone realized we had just gone right over it, snowplow and all. Bleh.

that's my husbands toy, too. I need to pick it up more often.

Cold rain, you say? Bah! We had accumulation. And it stayed on the ground for a good day or two.

Great pictures! Let's hope spring gives you more subjects soon.

Curious. We saw a skeleton in a window just yesterday. But it was a dog skeleton in a side window at the vet's office.

Oooooo.... I love getting a new camera! I keep saying that my next dSlr will be a Nikon (I currently have a Canon). I have loved my Canon but anytime I use someone else's Nikon I just love the weight and feel of it.

And this Spring snowfall... no thank you!!

Yeah, i am none to pleased with this so-called 'spring' myself.

Dh tells me i should get a new camera. Mine is 6 years old & my pictures suck. But i have a hard time justifying the expense....

I love fine papers, I used to work in a stationery store and loved looking at all of the beautiful pieces, more like art than something to be inked up...your pictures are beautiful! Sadly I'm all about point and click, anything more and I'm just lost.

We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground. I am not sure if spring is stopping by here.

We got an SLR camera in December and just bought a new lens for it. They are fun toys, aren't they?
