Can you believe this?

The neighbor across the street is hugely pregnant. How did I miss this until now? Come to think of it, I haven't seen her for a while-- her husband and kids-- yes, but not her.

The good thing about the heatwave in The Old City? I only saw 8 pregnant women the whole time there. Yes, I counted. Yesterday I saw 5 here. One of them across the street from me. Sigh.

Oh that hurts - every time. I'm sorry.

It does hurt. I truly cannot bear to see it, either. You can hide on the street, but when they are next door, or across the street...there's only so much avoiding you can do. Sorry that she's right there. I find it really hard on my block too. There are quite a few new babies. I managed to wave at one last week, but it nearly killed me...and I was trapped on the front porch at the time (couldn't get those keys in the front door fast enough!)

Hmmmm...sounds like it's time to move.

Seriously though, especially if you're not expecting it, it can be a very unpleasant shock to suddenly be confronted with a hugely pregnant woman. Especially if it's someone you're forced to interact with.

Ouch, it's really bad when you don't expect it, I find. Once I know they are there, I can brace myself. It's the surprises that always get me.

I'm so sorry... it does hurt. And right across the street... ugh!

Yes, I agree that it is much worse when you are not expecting it.

Pregnant women really are the worst. But, for me, little boys of all ages make me ache for William and all that I will miss. I am well aware that my neighbors have two small boys, but lately as we are all spending time outside I am constantly made acutely aware of them. We will be having a pleasant time on our deck and then the sounds of toddlers playing are inescapable.

five. five. i'm sorry.

just the fact that you're counting shows how much it hurts.

about three months after Finn died, just around his due date, a friend who was visiting made arrangements for her brother to pick her up at our house. brother showed up with his hugely pregnant girlfriend, days away from delivery. it had been a surprise pregnancy - she hadn't even figured it out until she was over four months along. i didn't speak to that girl, not once. it was all i could do not to hit her. and i am not that kind of person, usually.

but her round belly was almost sharp, for me...knife-like. i have never wanted someone out of my house so badly.

i wish you a heatwave. :)
