Worth the price of admission

From the Rosh Hashana liturgy:

May we never abandon our memories. May our memories inspire deeds which lead us to life and love, to blessings and peace.

I never noticed that passage before yesterday morning, and I went back today-- not at all typical as I am not usually big on attending more services than strictly necessary-- just to get another look at it.

This is exactly what I needed to hear this New Year, and I hope it brings a measure of comfort to some of you as well.

Not to mention this is a handy passage for those extra special people in our lives who think that "it" means nothing and that we should be over "it" by now.

Thank you for noticing and quoting that passage. There's so much about this time of year that is far from comforting, so it's nice to read something with some measure of optimism.

I think I needed that. I agree thank you for posting it. and I 100% agree with your last paragraph. So many people think that way. it's terrible.

Like Niobe, I'm glad you noticed something comforting in the liturgy. For some reason, tears began pouring from my eyes almost immediately, during "Mah Tovu," actually. And it has always been one of my favorite prayers and usually invigorates me. I've said/heard it so many times since January, and yet somehow yesterday it made me so profoundly sad. The burden of judgment felt massively heavy.

What a glorious quote! Words of wisdom indeed ....

I should have added, however, that I will try very hard to remember the words you noted and return to them over the next weeks.

This is beautiful. I will be thinking about it all day, I'm sure. And it does bring me some comfort, so thank you for that.

And yes, your last line...it's exactly right.
